Project 19 is a PACE initiative specifically designed to support the elderly, the vulnerable, the excluded and those who have fallen into hardship as a result of the COVID-19 virus. This includes providing food, combating isolation and loneliness providing free at the point of delivery qualified counselling via phone or video call (eg Facetime/Whatsapp).
We are also able to provide various items of furniture and emergency household goods where needed and when available. We work in conjunction with another charity to deliver community radio which enables isolated people to feel more connected. We have also gathered together a substantial base of volunteers who are able to go to the pharmacist to pick up prescriptions or to pick up shopping from the supermarket for those unable to leave their properties. Additionally, we have secured the services of a qualified personal trainer who stages regular Zoom keep fit sessions to enable those who are isolated to keep active. This is just one of several weekly gatherings run remotely, helping to support people during lockdown.
The services PACE offers are open to all irrespective of age, gender, background, disability, ethnicity or creed.
We appreciate COVID-19 will continue to have its impact on many families after the virus has subsided. PACE, through Project 19 will continue to support people who have been impacted as a result of the coronavirus in any way we can.
Below are some of the projects that we run in the local community.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis PACE is well positioned to help vulnerable members of the community in practical ways.
